June Member Spotlight- Adora Rossi!

Our June sunlight spotlight goes to a woman  whose name is as cool as her tattoos. She is a graduate of our very first Fundamentals class back in January of 2015. Since then we have seen her skyrocket in strength and athleticism but not without giving credit to all the hardwork she puts in weekly. When she is not at the box getting her fitness on or supporting her fellow members through a workout, you can find her enjoying chill time with her family, church, or making people "mild or wild" at her own salon business,   Shear Passion in VB. We introduce to you the astonishing ADORA ROSSI!

Thank you SO SO SOOOOO much for choosing me for this recognition in a community of inspiring, and athletic people!! Now that I’m done crying in admiration, it’s my honor to share with you all a little of my story.

I am Adora Alffonsine Rossi (it’s Italian), I am a scorpio, and I enjoy all things peanut butter. When I first met Art and Anna I was a few months pregnant with my son, and I remember thinking: “Man he is really into this healthy living thing." He was trying to convince my fiancé that working out is fun and quinoa tastes good! Well our son turns 5 this month and I still don’t believe him on either. When the gym first opened the two of them conspired against me to try it out, and my first class was with coach G and it was NOT a fundamentals class ... I looked at G with an expression I am sure was one of a deer in headlights. I had no idea what warm up we were doing or what I was there to clean. I have since completed the fundamentals course (January 13, 2015) and competed in 3 competitions and the 2016 CrossFit Open! #Gmademedoit

I LOVE Drop Box!! I have made several new friends and because of the Drop Box community I continue working out. If I was forced to work out on my own, I would not do it! It has not worked in the past longer than 6 months at a time. It is because of Drop Box I embrace the suck. It is because of Drop Box  I am stronger than I have EVER been in my life physically. It is because of Drop Box I can help the elderly. That is where my heart crumbles, the elderly. CrossFit has helped me physically help the elderly. Twice in the past year I have been in the presence of a woman who had fallen and could not get up. Having a deadlift PR of 195 allowed me to, both times, pick them up to their feet with ease. That’s what matters, when CrossFit meshes with REAL LIFE. It is improving one’s own way of life so that they may help others! That’s what I love the most about CrossFit.

There are a lot of other things I love as well, such as the family feel, the support and encouragement during every WOD, potlucks, random break out in a dance sessions, our coach’s PASSION and COMMITMENT for everyone to exceed their personal expectations, and let’s be honest the competitions.  I have played sports since middle school and thrive on team vibes! Sports include volleyball, softball, swimming, track and field, and cheerleading. I have enjoyed the competitions I have since competed in and the bonds that have grown stronger between myself and my teammates, but more so our team names:

So whens the next one?!! But really, I cannot thank you Drop Box members enough for the impact you have on my life. Thank you Gerry, Art, Alma, and Anna for creating an environment that welcomes everyone who desires to better themselves. Thank YOU for pushing me and inspring me through your passion and dedication, to want to be better than I was yesterday. You all deserve the recognition. Without you, we wouldn’t have this second home of ours. Thank you for making me stronger and healthier than I could have ever imagined walking into this “crazy” but not really crazy CrossFit gym.

Current PR’s:

• 195 deadlift

• 175 backsquat

• 125 clean and jerk

• 103 snatch
