April 2023 Athlete of the Month

"Caitlyn S"

Caitlyn has been part of the DBCF fam since July 2021! Between nursing assignments, her collegiate field hockey athleticism can be seen at 0830 and Saturday morning crushing the WODs. Her intensity and focus on improvement has been paramount to her progress as a CrossFit athlete, which is truly impressive and inspiring. She is definitely a member of our community that embodies CrossFit ideals. CONGRATS CAITLYN!

Where are you from?

Milford, NJ. An hour and 15 minutes north of Philadelphia

How long have you been CrossFitting?

Since October 2020

Any sports background?

I played field hockey starting in middle school through college. I’m quite competitive and I feel like that carries over into my workouts.

Best CF Experience?

My best experience was competing in my first comp. I never thought I would ever compete in a comp, that I would never be on that level. But when I did the comp, having a great teammate and having some people come out and support us, was really such an awesome time and I look forward to all the other ones I’ll be doing in the future!

Favorite movement or WOD?

Power cleans! Not squat cleans though haha

What are your goals?

Lifting heavier weights and getting gymnastics movements. I love lifting heavy, and maxing out is always awesome when you get a PR. It makes me feel like such a badass! 💪🏻 As for the gymnastic movements, they’re definitely the most challenging movements for me, physically and mentally. So I just need to practice, practice, practice! Specifically getting a bar muscle up is my goal for the year.

Favorite food or cheat meal?

There’s too many good foods to pick just one! But I do have a big sweet tooth so I’d say sweets are my cheat foods, like eating a piece of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory for dinner 🤦🏼‍♀️

Why do you CrossFit?

I do it to stay in shape and to have the community of people. Dropbox has some really awesome athletes and coaches!

Any advice for newbies?

Never say, “I’ll never be able to do that.” I have said that to myself before (and honestly I still do) but I’ve surprised myself time after time. CrossFit movements and workouts can be pretty intimidating, but always try! If you need to scale, scale it, but keep it challenging! Push yourself and stick with it, you may surprise yourself with what you are capable of!
